Neuritis Causes Symptoms And Home Remedies

The inflammation of nerves which impairs their normal functioning is commonly referred to as neuritis. Multiple causes, like infections, autoimmune diseases, or physical trauma, may result in this medical condition. In areas that are impacted, discomfort, numbness, weakness, and tingling can frequently be brought on by the inflammation. The peripheral nerves that link the limbs and other body parts to the spinal cord are especially affected by peripheral neuritis. Neuritis needs to be properly diagnosed and treated; this often entails taking anti-inflammatory drugs, managing discomfort, and treating the underlying cause. To help relieve discomfort and enhance nerve function, physical therapy may also be suggested. To manage neuritis and prevent long-term consequences, early intervention is crucial.

Causes For Neuritis

Neuritis may have various causes, including:

Infections: Neuritis, which may occur from infections caused by bacteria or viruses. Lyme disease, shingles, and multiple gastrointestinal or respiratory diseases are a few examples.

Autoimmune Disorders: Neuritis may happen in situations during which the immune system unintentionally targets the body's tissues. A prime instance of an autoimmune disease that's affecting the peripheral nerves is Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Injury or Trauma: Neuritis and inflammation may happen from injuries to the body such as fractures or pressing on nerves. Another cause could be continuous stress or pressure on the nerves.

Chemicals and ToxinsCertain chemicals, heavy metals, or toxins may lead to damage to nerves and inflammation. Poisoning with lead and exposure to certain industrial toxins are two such instances.

Nutritional Deficiencies: Neuritis may occur from a deficiency of various vitamins, especially B vitamins such as B1 (thiamine), B6 (pyridoxine), and vitamin B12 (cobalamin).

Metabolic Disorders: Conditions such as diabetes can affect nerves over time, leading to a type of neuritis called diabetic neuropathy.

Heredity: Some individuals may be genetically predisposed to certain nerve disorders, making them more susceptible to neuritis.

Chronic Diseases: Certain chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus can involve inflammation that affects the nerves.

Identifying the specific cause of neuritis is crucial for effective treatment and management of the condition. Consultation with a healthcare professional is essential for a thorough evaluation and diagnosis.

3. Fractures and dislocations of bone, injury to nerves, compression of nerves, bad bruises, and blows.

Symptoms Of Neuritis

1. Burning and tingling sensation, stabbing pain in the affected areas. There can also be numbness or a loss of sensation. For example, numbness of the muscles of the face can be due to a change in the facial nerve in the affected area.

2. Certain infections; poisoning due to insecticides, lead mercury, arsenic and alcohol, and diabetes mellitus.

Home Remedies For Neuritis

1. B complex vitamin-rich diet is recommended for neuritis. It may include, sprouts, fresh fruits, milk, nuts, soy products, yeast, etc.

2. Take a teaspoon of honey with a cup of soya milk, before going to bed every night. This is a very useful remedy. It helps to tone up the nervous system due to its rich concentration of lecithin, glutamic acid, and vitamin B.

3. Take a teaspoon of barley and boil it in four cups of water for 15-20 minutes. Cool the solution, strain it, and add a teaspoon of lemon juice and some buttermilk. Drink this mixture once a day.

4. Drink freshly prepared 200 ml raw carrot juice and raw spinach juice 300 ml daily. This helps to supply necessary micronutrients, the deficiency of which causes neuritis.
