What Is Anaemia? Causes, Symptoms & Home Remedies

What is Anaemia? A low amount of hemoglobin in the blood or an insufficient amount of red blood cells (RBCs) are the two primary signs of anemia. Red blood cells include a protein known as hemoglobin, which carries oxygen from the lungs to other tissues in the body. The organs and tissues of the body may not receive a sufficient amount of oxygen when red blood cells or levels of hemoglobin are inadequate, which may lead to a variety of signs and health difficulties.

Anemia occurs in many different kinds of forms, all with unique underlying causes. The most common type of anemia is iron deficiency, which occurs when the body lacks enough iron to produce enough hemoglobin. Other kinds of anemia can be a result of bone marrow issues, ongoing medical conditions, family history, and deficiency in vitamins such as folic acid and B12.

Common symptoms of anemia can include weakness, fatigue, pale skin, dizziness, shortness of breath, and cold feet and hands. Anaemia may be caused by many factors, including nutritional deficiencies (such as Vitamin B12, iron, or folic acid), chronic diseases, certain medications, or genetic conditions.

1. What is Anaemia?

It is a medical condition characterized by a deficiency of hemoglobin or red blood cells in the blood. Red blood cells include a protein called hemoglobin, which carries oxygen from the lungs to the other tissues of the body. When there is a lower-than-normal amount of hemoglobin or red blood cells, the body may not get sufficient oxygen, leading to different symptoms.

Anemia is a decrease in the quantity of hemoglobin ( an iron compound that imparts red color to blood) or a decrease in the number of red blood cells. It is a very common condition found in all age groups, more so in the malnourished, old, and those suffering from certain diseases like malaria.

2. Causes Of Anaemia

* Heavy loss of blood due to piles or injury

* Excessive menstrual flow in women

* Decreased formation of  RBCs (Red blood cells) in the bone marrow.

* Inadequate iron compound in diet, malnourishment.

* Lack of hydrochloric acid in the stomach

* Endo parasitic infestations like that of roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, or rape worm.

Anemia can appear as fatigue, weakness, pale skin, fainting, shortness of breath, and irregular heartbeats. Depending on the type and reason for anemia, these signs may vary in intensity.

3. Symptoms Of Anaemia

* Dizziness, weakness, low energy levels, and fatigue.

* Pale skin, dull eyes, wrinkles on the face, and a haggard look.

* Palpilation/ irregular beating of heart, difficulty in breathing after physical exertion.

* Slow healing of the wound, poor memory, and headache.

A blood test typically takes place to determine the cause of illness by measuring the amount of red blood cells, hemoglobin, and various other pertinent indicators. The purpose of treatment is to deal with the underlying cause of anemia, which can involve nutritional adjustments, vitamin or supplementation with iron, prescription drugs, or, in some cases, more sophisticated medical treatments.
